Abstract:
A method for suppressing silica scale in a reverse osmosis membrane during water treatment in which silica-containing supply water is caused to flow through the reverse osmosis membrane. When the water volume supplied to a reverse osmosis membrane is VFm3/d, the concentrated water volume is VCm3/d, and the silica concentration in the supplied water is CSmg/L and when the relationship in formula (1) is fulfilled, pressure release flow is used whereby the permeation flow rate of the reverse osmosis membrane is set to no more than 0.6 m/d, a back pressure valve is opened at least once every three days, and supply water is caused to flow at no more than 1/3 of the set permeation flow rate.
