Abstract:
[Problem] To improve the weatherability of a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag which comprises a paper base and an antenna circuit formed on a surface thereof. [Solution] An RFID tag substrate which comprises a paper base and a conductive circuit formed on a surface thereof, the amount of chloride ions released from the paper base per unit mass (1 g) being 0.100 mg or less in accordance with the following (A). (A) A paper base sample having an area corresponding to the A4 size (210×297 mm) defined in ISO 216 is torn into pieces not larger than 100 mm2. All the pieces are put into a polypropylene vessel, and 50 mL of water having an electrical conductivity of 0.2 mS/m or less is added thereto to immerse all of the pieces in the water. The mixture is allowed to stand at 23±2°C for 1 hour and then filtered with a membrane filter to recover the filtrate. The filtrate is analyzed by ion chromatography to determine the concentration of chloride ions (Cl-) in the filtrate. From the obtained concentration, the total amount of chloride ions which have been released into the 50-mL water is determined. Said total amount is divided by the mass (g) of the paper base sample, and the resultant quotient is taken as the amount of chloride ions released per unit mass.
