Abstract:
A ripple user interface for use in an information display system that arranges and displays, in a virtual space, information distributed from information sources using an information distribution service. The ripple user interface is implemented using an information placement device (e.g. ripple server that executes a ripple service) and an information display device (e.g. an information terminal in which a ripple application has been installed). The information placement device associates information distributed from information sources and generates ripple graphics of sizes that monotonically increase according to the importance of the information source, and centers the ripple graphics around positions detached from a reference position in the virtual space (e.g. the center position of a screen) by distances that monotonically decreases according to the strength of the relationship between the user and the information source. The information display device displays, on a screen, display information showing the virtual space including the ripple graphics to which the information distributed from the information sources has been associated. The ripple graphics can be displayed using a prescribed shape, angle or color in a position correlated with a user symbol (e.g. icon), and the ripple graphics can be expanded at a prescribed speed, or removed from the screen after a prescribed removal period has elapsed.
