Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a microcapsule, said microcapsule containing a biodegradable polymer and risperidone and having excellent sustained release properties, and a method for manufacturing the same. A microcapsule containing a biodegradable polymer and risperidone, characterized in that the biodegradable polymer in the microcapsule has a molecular weight (Mw) corresponding to 85% or greater relative to the starting Mw thereof; a method for manufacturing a microcapsule that comprises (A) a step for mixing a biodegradable polymer solution and a risperidone solution, said solutions having been prepared separately, to prepare a first phase, (B) a step for, immediately after preparing the first phase, mixing the first phase with a second phase that is an aqueous phase to prepare an emulsion, and (C) a step for drying the obtained emulsion in water; and a method for controlling the release of risperidone from a microcapsule containing a biodegradable polymer and risperidone, characterized in that the Mw of the biodegradable polymer in the microcapsule is adjusted to 85% or greater relative to the starting Mw thereof.
