Abstract:
A road surface condition detection system capable of quickly and accurately detecting road surface conditions in vehicle traveling, an active suspension system and an anti-lock brake system that use the road surface condition detection system, and a sensor unit for the road surface condition detection system. A sensor unit (100) is provided on a rotating body of a rotation mechanism section of a wheel, and the sensor unit (100) has an acceleration sensor for detecting acceleration occurring in the direction of rotation of the wheel as the wheel rotates. A signal of the detected acceleration is received by a monitor device (200), the received signal is compared to a variation pattern of an acceleration signal for each road surface condition, which pattern is previously stored in a storage section (250), to specify the conditions of a road surface, and information on the specified conditions is outputted. Drive control of the active suspension system and the anti-lock brake system is made based on the information on the road surface conditions.
