Abstract:
This road surface condition determination device 10 is configured from a driven wheel-side acceleration sensor 11 which is mounted on a driven wheel of a tire and detects the driven wheel acceleration waveform, a drive wheel-side acceleration sensor 21 which is mounted on a drive wheel and detects the drive wheel acceleration waveform, a feature value calculation means 13, 23 which, from the driven wheel acceleration waveform and the drive wheel acceleration waveform, calculates a feature value of the driven wheel and a feature value of the drive wheel, respectively, a storage means 15 for storing road surface feature values calculated in advance for each road surface condition, and means 14, 24, 16 for determining the state of the road surface in contact with the driven wheel and the drive wheel from the aforementioned calculated feature values and the aforementioned road surface feature values. In the means 24, 16, a DRY road surface and an ICE road surface are distinguished and a DRY road surface and a SNOW road surface are distinguished, or, a DRY road surface and an ICE/SNOW road surface are distinguished; in the means 14, 16, a DRY road surface and a WET road surface are distinguished.
