Abstract:
Provided are a robot arm mechanism and a rotational joint mechanism that are of simple structure and provide highly reliable safety. The robot arm mechanism is equipped with at least one rotational joint that is formed by having a rotary body (202) rotatably supported on a rotary pedestal (201), wherein a stopper rod (206) is mounted to either of the rotary pedestal (201) and the rotary body (202). At least one first stopper block (204) is mounted to the other of the rotary pedestal (201) and the rotary body (202), and at least one second stopper block (207) is mounted to the other of the rotary pedestal (201) and the rotary body (202). As the stopper rod (206) comes into abutment with the first and second stopper blocks (204, 207), the rotation of the rotary body (202) is locked. The first stopper block (204) is mounted at a position that corresponds to a mechanically-allowed operating range of the rotational joint, and the second stopper block (207) is mounted to a position that corresponds to a movable range of the robot arm mechanism in which safety is assured.
