Abstract:
This robot comprises a retaining unit, a pulling-out unit, a sensor, and a dimension acquisition unit. The retaining unit can retain an article which is on a support. The pulling-out unit can pull out the retaining unit toward the near side. The sensor detects when the article is no longer on the support due to having been pulled out. On the basis of the distance by which the article was pulled out, the dimension acquisition unit acquires the dimension of the article in the direction of pulling-out, such acquisition carried out from the time the pulling-out unit began pulling out the article to the time the sensor detected that the article was no longer on the support.
