Abstract:
Provided are a robot device and a movement control method for the robot device, whereby the movement of the robot device can always be controlled on the basis of suitable space information about the surrounding area, without requiring prior preparation of highly precise space information about an area relating to a structure. The robot device comprises: a space information recording unit having recorded therein first space information for the area related to the structure, said area being where travel is predicted for the robot device autonomously moving relative to the structure; a space information acquisition unit mounted to the robot device and obtaining second space information for the area around the robot device in accordance with the movement of the robot device; and a space information updating unit that uses the second space information obtained by the space information acquisition unit and updates the first space information recorded in the space information recording unit. The robot device uses the first space information recorded in the space information recording unit, during movement by the robot device relative to the structure.
