Title:
ROBOT FOR WALKING ON AND CLEANING SMOOTH, INCLINED, AND MODULAR SURFACES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/094710
Kind Code:
A4
Abstract:
Robot (1) for walking on and cleaning smooth, inclined, and modular surfaces, particularly solar modules, mirrors and glass fronts, characterized in that: the advance motion in any direction is produced by two rotary drives (6) that engage with the surfaces by means of suction grippers (5) and that can be lifted and lowered by means of a lifting drive (7), called legs (12); a brush (2) is mounted in front of the robot and supports the mechanical system, and is designed as part of the travelling mechanism, the surface being brushed in the process; the legs are mounted at a distance to each other allowing them, when the rotary drive is activated, to surmount gaps and objects in accordance with the distance of the suction grippers to each other; distance sensors (3) in front of the robot detect gaps and obstacles and the robot aligns itself accordingly to correct its position, thereby allowing a structured travelling on the surface; the suction grippers are supplied with pressured air to detach them and to flatten the surface below them prior to evacuation; a coupling (9) connecting the rotary drive to the suction grippers is torsionally stiff, thereby removing the need for reference travels and sensors for position detection; the lifting drives are bidirectional lifting magnets that are optionally controlled in parallel, thereby saving energy due to the short actuation time, avoiding the generation of heat and increasing speed; and the brush can be connected to the rest of the robot by a snap fastener.
