Abstract:
The present invention relates to a rod-shaped plastic guardrail which would normally be installed on the roadsides of high-level roads, bridges, etc. The guardrail is installed transversely on a vertical post, and comprises two cylinders arranged coaxially. In particular, the guardrail comprises: an outer cylinder including a plurality of first ribs protruding inward from the inner surface thereof; an inner cylinder having a plurality of second ribs protruding outward from the outer surface thereof and fitting grooves formed so as to allow the first ribs to be closely inserted between adjacent second ribs; an intermediate layer for connecting the ends of the first and second ribs to each other in a misaligned manner such that the ends of the first ribs are positioned at the entrances of the fitting grooves when the inner and outer cylinders are positioned to face each other; and a fixing means for installing the outer cylinder on one side surface of a post. According to the aforementioned structure, when impact is applied to the surface of the outer cylinder, the intermediate layer fails, and the first ribs are forcibly inserted into the fitting grooves, such that the impact is mitigated by frictional resistance that is continuously provided throughout the process.
