Abstract:

When the recording paper on a roll (20) runs out during image formation, the following operations are carried out. When the length of the remaining recording paper is larger than a first reference length long enough to permit the remaining recording paper to be transferred inside and outside of a roll unit RU, this paper is subjected to discharge transfer. When the length of the remaining recording paper is somewhat smaller than the first reference length, the leading end of this paper is projected outward from the roll unit RU. When the length of the remaining recording paper is so much smaller than a second reference length that the remaining recording paper cannot be transferred inside the roll unit RU, the paper is transferred reversely and dropped into the roll unit RU. Thus, the remaining recording paper can be taken out easily and excellently at all times.
