Title:
ROLLING BEARING AND METHOD OF MACHINING ROLLING ELEMENT OF THE BEARING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/050781
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A rolling element capable of increasing an anti-rolling fatigue while its hardness is maintained by improving the combination of a mechanical surface hardening of the rolling element to the surface rolling element and heat treatment; a rolling bearing long in service life even under high load and high vibration obtained by incorporating the rolling elements therein, a rolling bearing used under an environment where a high temperature, high load, and high vibration act on the bearing being known that a separation tends to occur earlier in its rolling element than in its race; a method of machining the rolling element, comprising the steps of giving a compressive residual stress to the surface of the rolling element by the surface hardening after giving hardening and tempering to the rolling element, and finish-polishing the rolling element after a secondary tempering so as to bring a residual austenite amount on a surface layer to 0 to 15%, a final compressive residual stress value to -600 to -1200 MPa, and a machining distortion release rate to 10 to 60%, whereby the rolling bearing long in service life even under high load and high vibration can be obtained.
