Abstract:
According to the present invention, inclusion-induced peeling, which occurs at various internal depths from a raceway surface outer layer, is minimized. A rolling bearing in which, in at least one raceway surface of the inner race and outer race: a region not affected by processing is designated as a first region; and a region where (a) the processing amount is 0.03 or more, (b) the amount of residual austenite is 70% or more of the amount of residual austenite in the first region, and (c) the compressive residual stress is at least 500 MPa higher than the compressive residual stress in the first region, is designated as a second region. To produce this rolling bearing, after the inner race and the outer race have been quenched and tempered, at least one raceway surface of the inner race and the outer race is subjected to mechanical processing under conditions such that the maximum contact surface pressure with a processing jig is 7.2 GPa or less, this pressure being calculated under the assumption that only elastic deformation occurs.
