Abstract:
A rolling bearing comprises an inner ring (2), an outer ring (3), and rolling elements (4) interposed therebetween. The inner diameter of the inner ring (2) is larger than the outer diameter of a shaft member (6) disposed inside the inner ring. The shaft member (6) has a size allowing the rotation and the axial movement thereof. An annular body (5) formed of a member with a higher elastic modulus than the inner ring (2) is installed on the inner peripheral surface of the inner ring (2). The annular body (5) is so formed that there is a gap between its inner surface and the outer surface of the shaft member (6) to allow the rotation and the axial movement of the shaft member (6). The coefficient of friction of the inner peripheral surface of the annular body (5) is lower than that of the inner peripheral surface of the inner ring (2). The rolling bearing (1) is applied to a support member for supporting the shaft member at the axial intermediate position in a device such as a linear actuator having a shaft rotating mechanism for rotating the shaft member. Consequently, the axial intermediate portion of the rotating shaft member can be supported while the shaft member is smoothly rotated.
