Description:
Roof window with window leaf reinforcement

The object of the invention is a roof window with window leaf reinforcement, especially with external reinforcement of the window leaf stiles.

A roof window with tippable window leaf is known, representing a load-carrying structure, wherein the window leaf is rotably installed in a casing. In the known window, the window leaf and the casing have side elements connected with top and bottom elements using external parts protected against weather conditions with longitudinal covers.

Patent application No. P.385687 discloses a method of stiffening and improving the insulating power of the sections using foamy material that consists in injecting rigid polyurethane foam, including between 0 and 200 parts by weight of scattered reinforcement, directly into chambers in the sections.

Patent application No. PL 217849 discloses a wooden frame of a window, especially roof window, wherein within its internal wooden parts, especially side ones, it is equipped with elements reinforcing wood across its fibres, located crosswise to the main plane of the window frame. The reinforcing elements are threaded connectors, advantageously screws with thread along the whole length. The reinforcing elements are arranged especially near the hinges within the middle zone of the side parts of the frame and near its corners.

Patent application No. P.401780 discloses a method of manufacturing wooden and aluminium windows with thermal overlay, as well as a wooden and aluminium window with thermal overlay. In this solution, together with machining the casing and window leaf, the thermal insulating overlays are prepared, wherein the overlays are directly fixed to the wooden casing and wooden window leaf and the glazing set is installed in the leaf, whereupon aluminium overlays are fixed.

Surprisingly, it turned out that equipping the window leaf stiles with reinforcing sections on their external side allowed for increasing the window insulating power, precluding removal of the glazing pane by unauthorised personnel and obtaining proper rigidity in case of glazing sets of large dimensions.

The object of the invention is the necessity to obtain improved rigidity of window leaf stiles, improve tightness and insulating power of rotary roof windows, as well as to obtain better anti-burglary protection.

The purpose of the roof window with the window leaf reinforcement according to the invention is that the window leaf, on its external side of the top stile and side stiles, is equipped with reinforcing sections with stiffening shelf directed inwards of the window leaf that represents a glazing bead at the same time, and which is finished with a protruding rim, while the bottom stile of the window leaf, on its external side, is equipped with a reinforcing section with stiffening shelf directed outwards of the window leaf, wherein the reinforcing section of the window leaf top stile is equipped with a segment locking with the window casing and the protruding rim represents a seat for the gasket.

The reinforcing section of the top stile and the side stiles and the reinforcing section of the bottom stile are located above the gasket set. The reinforcing section of the side stiles and top stile has its contour resembling letter "F".

The reinforcing section of the top stile and side stiles has a rib oriented inwards of the window leaf on the load-carrying wall. The stiffening shelf of the reinforcing section of the side stiles is equipped with an overlay made preferably of carbon fibre. The reinforcing section of the bottom stile has an angle contour. The reinforcing section of the bottom stile has a rib oriented inwards of the window leaf on the load-carrying wall.

The solution according to the invention provides more rigidity and tightness of rotary roof windows made of PVC sections, as well as wood, by minimizing the deflection of the top half of the leaf under dead-weight and wind load. Application of external stiffening and the provision of reinforcing sections allows for increasing thermal and acoustic insulating power and eliminates the necessity to apply external elements fixing the glazing set and eliminates the necessity to apply additional protections against unauthorized removal of the glazing set.

The object of the invention is presented in the below figures, wherein: Fig. 1 presents a cross-section of the top stiles of the casing window leaf,

Fig. 2 presents a top view of the window leaf with external reinforcing sections, and Fig. 3 presents a cross-section of the reinforcing section.

The roof window with the window leaf reinforcement is made of PVC sections, but can also be made of wooden sections, and includes the casing J and rotary wooden leaf 2, which has a reinforcing section resembling "F" letter installed on the external side of the top stile and side stiles.

The reinforcing section 5 has a load-carrying wall 6 with a rib 7 oriented inwards the window leaf 2, wherein the load-carrying wall 6 is finished at the top part with a stiffening shelf 8 that is finished with protruding rim 2 receiving the glazing gasket 10 of the glazing set 11. The stiffening shelf 8 has an overlay 12 made carbon fibre tape, glued using system glue.

The reinforcing section 5 is fixed to the glazing member 13 of the window leaf 2 using installation screw 14.

The window leaf 2, at the glazing member 13, has a profiled groove 15 receiving the rib 7 of the load-carrying wall 6. The window leaf 2 has a bottom stile 16 equipped, on the external side, with the reinforcing section 17 of the angle contour. The reinforcing section 17 has a stiffening shelf 18 oriented outwards the window leaf 2 and the rib 20 oriented inwards the window leaf 2 on the load-carrying wall 19.

The reinforcing section 5 of the top stile of the window leaf 2 is equipped with a segment 21 locking with the window casing.

The reinforcing section 5 and reinforcing section 17 are located above the gasket set 22. The roof window is installed in the roof structure on installation angles 23, using installation screws 24 and has a side cover 25 and bottom cover 26, wherein a gasket 27 is installed between the bottom cover 26 and the glazing set 11 .
