The present invention provides a root canal file with a non-continuous spiral cutting edge. The root canal file comprises a handle, a connecting part, a file body, and a spiral groove. The file body is connected to the handle via the connecting part. The file body has a conical shape. The spiral cutting edge is distributed on the file body. The spiral groove is provided at the periphery of the file body and runs in an axial direction. The spiral direction of the spiral groove runs opposite to the direction of the spiral cutting edge distributed on the file body. The present invention adopts a spiral groove so that an entire longitudinally cut portion forms a space for receiving debris. The space increases by 15-30% as the spiral groove deepens compared to the space produced by a file body in the prior art. Also, since the cutting edge is no longer continuous in a spiral direction the cutting edge is prevented from engaging continuously. The file body of the root canal file is significantly smaller than the file body in the prior art, allowing it to more easily enter the hole of an original root canal, achieving only enlargement of the root canal while performing continuous cutting and effectively avoiding perforation through side walls of the root canal and formation of steps in the root canal.
