A rotary connector comprising inner and outer concentric tubes (2, 3) combined to turn relatively, and a flat cable (1) stored spirally in an annular space (20) defined by the inner and outer tubes (2, 3) with the inner and outer circumferential ends thereof being coupled, respectively, with the inner and outer tubes (2, 3), characterized in that the flat cable (1) comprises a plurality of rectangular conductors (10) arranged in parallel, and an insulation coating layer (11) covering the rectangular conductors (10) and being formed by direct extrusion of thermoplastic resin onto the rectangular conductors (10). Since the insulation coating layer (11) of the flat cable (1) is formed on the rectangular copper conductors (10) by direct extrusion of thermoplastic resin, a rotary connector is excellent in durability and turnable smoothly without increasing the torque even under high temperature environment.
