Abstract:
A rotary cutting tool that minimizes biting of cutting chips, and that can be manufactured at low cost. The rotary cutting tool comprises flank (6) having, superimposed on a surface of base material, hard coating (8) of a metal carbide, metal nitride or metal carbonitride, or a solid solution thereof, and comprises, continuing from the flank (6), rake face (7) having oxide coating (9) resulting from oxidation of a surface of base material and further having, superimposed on the oxide coating (9), the above hard coating (8).
