A rotary cylinder device capable of preventing fluid from leaking through a clearance between pistons and a cylinder member and reducing the loss of the drive force of the cylinder member by back pressure fluid circulated to the rear of the cylinder member, comprising a rotating cylinder member (2), pistons (3, 4), a piston holding member (5), a casing (6), a cylinder supporting plate (71) installed between the casing (6) and the rotating cylinder member (2) and rotatably supporting the rotating cylinder member (2), a back pressure fluid vent (63) provided in the inner peripheral surface of the casing (6) so as to allow a clearance (C) between the cylinder support plate (71) and the rotating cylinder member (2) to communicate with a cylinder chamber (22), and a back pressure fluid passing groove (71a) provided in the cylinder support plate (71) so as to communicate with the back pressure fluid vent (63), wherein the back pressure fluid is guided into the cylinder chamber before a compression stroke.
