Title:
ROTARY DAMPER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/031515
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A rotary damper comprises a rotor (20) which is composed of a first divided member (22) and a second divided member (24) which are divided in the axial direction. End surface cams (22F, 24E) are formed on the opposing end surfaces (22E, 24D) of the first divided member (22) and the second divided member (24), and the end surface cams (22F, 24E) are shaped so as to displace the first divided member (22) relative to the second divided member (24) in the axial direction when both the divided members (22, 24) are rotated and displaced relative to each other. The first divided member (22) moves in the axial direction because of a difference in the rotational direction of the rotor (20). This causes the axial length of the rotor (20) to change and also causes the size of a throttle conduit (34) defined between the first divided member (22) and the inner wall of a rotor chamber (16) to change, and as a result, a difference occurs in the acting torque of the damper.
