A rotary drive device (3) for a solar panel comprises a vertical upright post (42), a mounting base (32), a housing (31) and rotary bearings (35) arranged in two sides of the housing (31). The housing (31) can do horizontal motion relative to the mounting base (32). The rotary bearings (35) can do vertical rotation in the housing (31). The rotary bearings (35) are used for driving a solar panel (2) to rotate. According to the rotary drive device (3) for a solar panel, a wind force applied to a solar support (1) and a solar panel (2) and the weight of the rotary drive device (3) are borne by an upright post (42) instead of a drive mechanism; the upright post (42) can be stably stressed, is high in durability and can bear the high-power solar panel (2); the horizontal and vertical drive axes of the rotary drive device (3) are compounded together, so that the rotary drive device is compact in structure, great in rotating angle and free of dead angle, and further tracking light is sufficient enough; and in addition, the drive device (3) is arranged in the housing (31), so that the rotary drive device is prevented from being eroded by the outside, is long in service life and high in strength.
