Abstract:
The present invention provides a rotary electric machine for which coil wires constituting each phase coil are connected so as to allow a potential difference between in-slot conductor wires, thereby suppressing an increase in thickness of an in-slot insulation material, and allow the length of a crossover section between winding bodies to be reduced, thereby making the rotary electric machine more efficient and smaller. A U-phase coil constituting armature winding comprises four small coil groups, namely, first through fourth small coil groups (U101, U102, U201, U202), each constructed by connecting winding bodies, which are housed inside a pair of slots which are separated from each other by an electric angle of 360°, in series in the order the winding bodies are arranged along substantially the entire circumference. The U-phase coil is constructed by connecting the four small coil groups, that is, first through fourth small coil groups (U101, U102, U201, U202), in series in such a manner that two small coil groups housed inside the same slot are positioned continuously or at every other position.
