Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a rotary engine which can have a higher compression ratio than conventional Wankel rotary engines.
In order to solve the problem, the rotary engine is provided with a rotor housing (10) and a rotor (20) which is configured so as to be capable of orbiting and rotating within the rotor housing (10), and the rotary engine combusts fuel within the rotor housing (10) to cause the rotor (20) to orbit and rotate, thereby obtaining rotational driving force. A housing inner peripheral surface (11A) facing the rotor (20) which orbits and rotates is formed in a football shape (F) which is expanded to be longitudinally longer than the shape of the housing inner peripheral surface (111A) of a Wankel rotary engine (100), the housing inner peripheral surface (111A) being formed by a cocoon-shaped trochoidal curve. The rotor (20) is caused to orbit and rotate so as to pass through an expanded region formed by the longitudinal shape expansion.
