The rotary machine (1) is provided with: an impeller (5) provided with a discoid disk (7) that rotates about an axis (O), blades (8) that are circumferentially disposed at intervals on a surface of the disk (7) facing one side in the direction of the axis (O) and thereby form a flow path (5F) that radially extends outward from the one side located in the direction of the axis (O), and a cover (9) that radially covers the blades (8) from outside; a casing (6) that radially covers the impeller (5) from outside and forms a gap with the outer surface of the cover (9); a seal part (10) that is disposed in the gap; and a lid member (S) that is formed from a material having higher machinability than the cover (9) and is disposed in a space communicating with the gap, which is formed between an end face of the cover (9) located on the one side in the direction of the axis (O) and a facing surface (61B) facing the end face in the direction of the axis (O), said lid member projecting toward the end face from the facing surface (61B).
