Abstract:
Reliability of a sensor (4a) for detecting the rotational speed is prevented from being lost due to adhesion of a foreign matter of magnetic material to an encoder (3a) made of a permanent magnet. The sensor (4a) is disposed oppositely to the encoder (3a) disposed on the outside of a combination seal ring (19) with respect to the inner space of a bearing (24). A labyrinth seal (20) is formed by bringing the housing section (33) of a drive shaft member (28) constituting a constant velocity joint (27)and a knuckle (21) closely to each other. Widthwise dimension of a gap of the labyrinth seal (20) is set not larger than 40% of the pitch of adjacent S pole and N pole existing on the plane being detected of the encoder (3a). According to the arrangement, a large foreign matter is prevented from adhering to the plane being detected of the encoder (3a).
