A rotary-type operation device is provided with: a rotatable operating member that receives operations by an operator; a rotation angle sensor that detects the rotation angle of the operating member; a torque-imparting unit that imparts an imparted torque to the operating member along the rotation direction of the operating member; a frictional-force-imparting unit that imparts frictional force to the operating member; and a friction torque control unit that changes the imparted torque and the frictional force according to the rotation angle.
