Disclosed are a rotary valve and a cryogenic refrigerator using same. The rotary valve has a valve body to which a body-side duct has been formed and a valve plate to which a plate-side duct has been formed, causes the body-side sliding surface of the aforementioned valve body to closely contact the plate-side sliding surface of the aforementioned valve plate, and switches the connection state of the aforementioned body-side duct and the aforementioned plate-side duct by means of causing the rotation of the aforementioned valve plate, and the aforementioned valve plate is provided with: a resin valve sliding body having the aforementioned plate-side sliding surface; and a valve plate body that comprises a non-magnetic material and to which a housing chamber is formed that houses said valve sliding body.
