This rotating electric machine is provided with a stator having a stator core, slots at even intervals around circumferential direction of said stator core, and a coil housed in said stator slots and generating a rotating magnetic field, and a rotor separated by a prescribed rotation gap from the stator core and freely rotatable, and is also provided with a first varnish impregnating between the coil and the slots of the stator core, and, to the outside of the slots in the axial direction, a second varnish attached directly to the enamel film of the coil. The first varnish is thermosetting varnish with the shear bond strength between the varnish and the coil in a flat wire greater than that of the second varnish, the second varnish is a thermosetting varnish with a glass transition temperature of about 104°C, and the glass transition temperature of the second varnish measured by the DMA method is lower than the glass transition temperature of the first varnish.
