Provided is a rotating electrical machine armature, wherein in each of all forward wound and reverse wound coils, a portion wound around a first side surface (21a) of two side surfaces that are side surfaces of a tooth and respectively face teeth adjacent thereto forms a linear portion (S) in which leads (4) of respective layers of the coil are parallel, and a portion wound around a second side surface (22a) thereof forms a cross portion (C) in which the lead (4) in an upper layer is wound on the lead (4) in a lower layer adjacent thereto so as to cross the lead in the lower layer, an insulator (2a) has guides (25a, 26a) for guiding the lead (4) along the base of an inner flange (23a) of the insulator (2a) in the first turn of the coil. Also provided are an insulator for the rotating electrical machine armature, and a coil winding device for winding a lead around a tooth equipped with the insulator.
