Abstract:
A rotating electrical machine (10) comprises: a magnetic field generation unit (40) that has a cylindrical magnet unit (42) provided with a plurality of magnetic poles including N-poles and S-poles, the N-poles and the S-poles being disposed alternatingly in the circumferential direction; an armature (50) having a multi-phase armature winding (51); and a rotor consisting of the magnetic field generation unit or the armature. The magnet unit includes a first portion (250) and a second portion (260), and the first portion is closer to the d-axis of a dq-axis coordinate system than the second portion and the second portion is closer to the q-axis of the dq-axis coordinate system than the first portion. The magnet unit is magnetically oriented so as to satisfy a condition such as a condition where an angle (θ11) formed by an easy-magnetization axis of the first portion and the d-axis is smaller than an angle (θ12) formed by an easy-magnetization axis (310) of the second portion and the q-axis. The magnetic field generation unit is configured so that an intrinsic coercive force is 400 kA/m and a residual magnetic flux density is 1.0 T or more.
