Abstract:
A rotating electrical machine (10) is equipped with: a rotor (40) comprising a magnet unit (42) having a plurality of magnetic poles, the polarity thereof alternating in the circumferential direction; and a stator (50) having a multiphase stator winding (51). The magnet unit has a configuration in which the easy axis of magnetization is oriented such that said orientation becomes close to parallel to the d-axis the closer to the d-axis in the circumferential direction. Specifically, the magnet unit includes a first magnet (146) that is disposed at prescribed intervals in the circumferential direction at each magnetic pole, and a second magnet (147) that is disposed in a position situated between adjacent first magnets in the circumferential direction and that has a magnetic pole which differs from the magnetic pole of the first magnet. Each of the first magnets and the second magnets has a configuration in which the easy axis of magnetization is oriented such that said orientation becomes close to parallel to the d-axis the closer to the d-axis in the circumferential direction.
