Abstract:
 A rotation angle sensor for detecting a rotation angle of a rotating body (200) is provided with a plurality of magnetoresistive effect elements (11-14, 21-24) each having a free layer, a magnetization direction of which varies, a pin layer, the magnetization direction of which is fixed, and a nonmagnetic intermediate layer. The plurality of magnetoresistive effect elements are arranged so as to be aligned along the rotation direction so that a clearance between the magnetoresistive effect elements and an outside face of the rotating body is constant. The magnetization direction of each pin layer is determined by the clearance (β) between the magnetoresistive effect elements along the rotation direction and a single reference line (BL) extending from a rotational center (RC) of the rotating body so as to be orthogonal to the rotation direction, and the length (α) obtained by adding together the width of each of a first electrode part and a second electrode part forming a pair adjacent in the rotation direction.
