Abstract:

A rotation transmitting device is configured so that the rotation transmitting device generates less noise and vibration. A rotation transmitting device is configured in such a manner that the application of an electric current to the electromagnet (53) of an electromagnetic clutch (50) causes an armature (51) to be attracted to a rotor (52) and axially moves a control retainer (16A) which forms a two-way clutch (10), and the movement of the control retainer (16A) causes the control retainer (16A) and a rotation retainer (16B) to rotate relative to each other in the direction in which the circumferential width of a pocket (27) reduces, thereby causing a pair of rollers (15) to engage with and to be disengaged from both the inner periphery of an outer ring (11) and the outer periphery of an inner ring (13). A cushioning member (61) is provided on the surface of the armature (51) which faces the rotor (52), and when the armature (51) is attracted, the cushioning member (61) is elastically deformed and absorbs the force of impact occurring during the attraction.
