Title:
ROTATIONAL POWER MECHANISM WITH HORIZONTAL ARMS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1992/006886
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A mechanism for increasing an output of a rotational driving force on a bicycle and the like. Each of fixed sprockets (1) and (2) is fixed at each side of a bicycle body bearing portion (15), each of floating sprockets (3) and (4) is provided at each of tail end portions of gear cranks (11) at both sides, and two each chains (5) and (6) are passed around these sprockets. Thus, differential motions caused by difference in size of the two floating sprockets (3) and (4) are utilized to hold the driving arms (16) rotatably supported at the tail end portions of the gear cranks (11) to be horizontal, thereby removing contradiction otherwise caused by the directional properties of inputs applied to the tail end portions of the driving arms (16). With this arrangement, a higher torque commensurate to the lengths between fulcrums and points of application can be obtained without changing the rotational diameters of the pedals (10).
