Abstract:
In order to improve the trade-off between current suppression during startup and torque increase during a steady state, a rotor is provided with: a rotor core 103 formed by laminating thin plates and rotating about a rotating axis; and an annular end ring 102 securely attached to both end surfaces of the rotor core 103 in the rotating axis direction, comprising a conductor having an electrical resistivity of ρ and an absolute permeability of μ, and centered on the rotating axis. The rotor is characterized in that the end ring 102 has a step shape having an outer circumference portion 102-1 on the outer circumferential side and an inner circumference portion 102-2 on the inner circumferential side, wherein the width of the outer circumference portion 102-1 is (ρ/fμπ)(1/2) or less and the height of the outer circumference portion 102-1 is lower than the height of the inner circumference portion 102-2, where f is the power supply frequency of the rotor and π is the circular constant.
