Abstract:
Drawing map data is stored in a navigation device (100) mounted in a car, and the present position surroundings map and the present position are both displayed on a display (106) so as to enable a location function to be always used independently for showing the user the present position on the display screen as a function daily used while the user drives the car in a known area. When the drive route guide to the destination is needed, the drive route to the destination is received from a center device (150), and thereby the data stored in the navigation device (100) and the processing load are reduced. The whole drive route to the destination are not transmitted all at once, and only a drive route from the present position over a predetermined distance is transmitted, and therefore the amount of data transmitted is reduced and the user can start early. Each time a split route is transmitted, a new transmission route to the destination is sought, thereby an optimum drive route determined considering the latest traffic information is transmitted.
