Abstract:
This invention improves the service performance, e.g. responsiveness and/or throughput, of a distributed system in which system components are distributed across a plurality of regions. This route resolution system, which is connected to a distributed system in which a plurality of components that constitute said system are distributed across a plurality of regions, converts measurements indicating inter-component processing performance to standardized values that do not depend on network performance information, and upon receiving a route inquiry from a component to which a request from a client terminal has been forwarded, derives a plurality of routes that connect components for processing said request. On the basis of a standardized value for said request, the route resolution system computes a performance-information estimate indicating the performance required to process the request via each route, and on the basis of the computed estimates, the route resolution system determines the optimal route.
