Provided is a route switching method and apparatus of a device, the method comprising: obtaining physical location information of all devices in a specified network; creating a network structure diagram according to the physical location information to reflect a location relationship among all devices; when a routing failure is detected at a specified device, selecting a target device to be switched to according to the network structure diagram and a preset rule; conducting the route switching from the specified device to the target device. The present invention addresses the problem that a related technique is incapable of effectively recovering a communication network in a short time period when the routing failure is detected at a device in a network system, thus enabling the route switching in a short time period, and ensuring the normal communication of the device.
