Abstract:
When applied to a tire member such as tread, the disclosed rubber composition exhibits a satisfactory combination of both rolling resistance and resistance to abrasion. Said rubber composition is characterized by the inclusion of hydrated silica with a cetyltrimethylammonium-bromide-adsorption specific surface area (CTAB, in m²/g) and ink-bottle pore index (IB) in a specific relationship and a mass loss on intense heating (percentage of mass lost after three hours of heating at 750°C) and mass loss on heating (percentage of mass lost after two hours of heating at 105°C) in a specific relationship.
