Abstract:
The present invention provides a rubber composition for sidewalls which is effective in improving low heat build-up properties; and a pneumatic tire obtained using the rubber composition.
The present invention relates to a rubber composition for sidewalls which comprises a rubber component comprising 30 mass% or more isoprene-based rubber, carbon black, a polyether including segments which are each made up of two or more consecutive ethylene oxide moieties and which are contained in an average mass that is 30 mass% or more of the total mass of all the ethylene oxide moieties, and the zinc salt of a C4 or higher aliphatic carboxylic acid and/or the zinc salt of an aromatic carboxylic acid, wherein the carbon black is contained in an amount of 20 parts by mass or larger per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component and comprises 50 mass% or more carbon black (1) having a CTAB specific surface area of 100 m2/g or smaller. The content of the polyether is 20 parts by mass or less and the total content of the zinc salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid and the zinc salt of an aromatic carboxylic acid is 20 parts by mass or less, per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component. The rubber composition has a zinc oxide content of 10 parts by mass or less per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component.
