Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a rubber composition for a tire outer layer with which it is possible to minimize the occurrence of odors while maintaining or improving excellent elongation at break and processability, and a pneumatic tire using the same. The present invention is a rubber composition for a tire outer layer including a rubber component, a nonionic surfactant or polyethylene glycol, and a vulcanization accelerator represented by formula (1), wherein the diene rubber content is 70-100 mass% in 100 mass% of the rubber component, and the nonionic surfactant or polyethylene glycol content is 0.2-6.0 parts by mass, the vulcanization accelerator content is 0.2-10 parts by mass, and the N-tert-butyl-2-benzothiazolylsulfenamide content is 0.5 part by mass or less with respect to 100 parts by mass of rubber component. (In the formula, R11 represents a C2-16 alkyl group. R12 represents a C3-16 alkyl group having a branched structure, or a benzothiazolylsulfide group.)
