Abstract:
Provided is a rubber cylinder (10). An upper end portion (104) of the rubber cylinder (10) has higher stiffness than a middle portion (106) thereof, such that when the upper end portion (104) is under a first axial stress, radial deformation of the middle portion (106) is greater than radial deformation of the upper end portion (104). Also provided are a packer and bridge plug having the rubber cylinder. The upper end portion of the rubber cylinder has greater stiffness than the middle portion, such that when the upper end portion is under the first axial stress, the upper end portion transfers more of the first axial stress to the middle portion and a lower end portion rather than reacting with radial deformation of itself. In this way, a small first axial stress can be employed to create radial deformation of a middle portion and a lower end portion, thus achieving seal of the entire rubber cylinder.
