Title:
RUBBER PRODUCT REINFORCING HIGH STRENGTH STEEL FILAMENT BODY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1996/029464
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a steel filament body for use as a reinforcing member for various types of rubber products such as radial tires for automobiles, the steel filament body including steel wires and steel cords each comprising a plurality of said wires. The steel wire is produced using a carbon steel wire containing 0.70 to 0.75 wt.% of carbon, its diameter ranges from 0.10 mm to 0.40 mm and it has properties expressed as Y -1960d+3580 [Y:tensile strength (N mm2), d: steel wire diameter (mm)]. Moreover, the torque reduction rate of the steel wire is 7 % or less in a twisting-torque curve obtained in a twisting-torque test in which the steel wire is twisted in one direction and then is twisted in a reverse direction. In addition, as a preferable steel cord in the present invention, there is a cord constructed by twisting wires in such a manner that two steel wires are first bound together substantially in parallel and another steel wire is then wound around the steel wires so bound. In addition to the above mentioned characteristics such as diameter, tensile strength and toughness, in this cord, a ratio B/A of the strength (B) of the steel cord exhibited after the wires are twisted together to a total (A) of strengths of the steel wires before they are twisted together into the steel cord is 0.935 or more.
