Abstract:

A run-flat core (10) shaped to have a box (11) with its upper surface (13) closed and its lower surface opened and a reinforcing plate (12) installed for reinforcement in the box. The core (10) is composed of a plurality of blocks (15) of the same shape connected peripherally of a wheel. The core has flanges (18) projecting right and left at low position in the direction of the height of the core. The plurality of flanges of the core are wound with a belt (19) or wire (20) from outside, and the resulting tension urges the core against the rim to establish close contact therebetween. The blocks (15) are interconnected at a low position in the direction of the height of the core. The core is formed with a longitudinal groove (10c), in which the belt (19) or wire (20) is wound, with the resulting tension urging the core against the rim to establish close contact therebetween.
