Abstract:
Provided is a run flat tire which is capable of achieving both a comfortable ride during normal travel and durability during run-flat travel to a higher standard. The run flat tire has bead portions (1), side wall portions (2), and a tread portion (3) and is provided with a carcass (4) which is comprised of one or more carcass plies extending in the form of a toroid between a pair of bead portions to reinforce each of the portions and side reinforcing rubber layers (5) which are arranged on the inside of the carcass at the side wall portions and which have a crescent-shaped cross section. A carcass ply cord is a hybrid cord obtained by twisting cellulose fiber filaments and nylon filaments. At a temperature of 177 °C, the heat shrinkage stress (cN/dtex) of the hybrid cord which has been subjected to an adhesive treatment is not less than 0.20 cN/dtex, and at a temperature of 177 °C, the heat shrinkage stress (cN/dtex) of the hybrid cord which has been removed from a product tire is not less than 0.10 cN/dtex.
