Abstract:
A running assistance system reproduces moving image data for a running course and displays images of the running course on a display (13) of a HMD device (10) while also superimposing and displaying the image of a virtual runner character on the image of the running course, calculating the distance between the actual runner and the virtual runner, and superimposing and displaying same on the image of the running course. As a result, the image of a virtual runner character is displayed on a HMD device (10) that a runner who is actually running an outdoor running course is wearing to seem as if the virtual runner is running the same running course with the runner, making it possible for the runner to enjoy running alone without feeling lonely even when running outdoors alone.
