Abstract:
Provided are: a saccharification reaction solution that can increase the efficiency of an enzymatic saccharification reaction through a simple process; a saccharifying enzyme composition; a sugar production method; and an ethanol production method. The saccharification reaction solution saccharifies at least one of cellulose and hemicellulose and contains: at least one of cellulose and hemicellulose; a saccharifying enzyme; silica or a silica-containing material; and at least one compound (A) selected from the group consisting of thiourea, thiourea derivatives, isothiourea derivatives, and salts thereof.
