Abstract:
The aim of the present invention is to provide a sacrificial concrete composition for an ex-vessel molten core cooling apparatus and a method for producing same, wherein temperature reduction and the spreadability of a molten core are improved, the heat concentrating effect threatening the structural integrity of a core catcher vessel is mitigated by inducing the layer inversion of a melt, and the amount of hydrogen generated is reduced by means of applying the sacrificial concrete composition onto the core catcher which receives and indirectly cools the melt immediately after the molten core is spewed out. To accomplish said aim, the sacrificial concrete composition for an ex-vessel molten core cooling apparatus according to the present invention is characterized by consisting of 68-82 wt% of strontium hexaferrite (SrCO3) and 18-32 wt% of aluminous cement. Also, in order to accomplish said aim, the method for producing the sacrificial concrete composition for an ex-vessel molten core cooling apparatus according to the present invention comprises a step of preparing strontium iron oxide (SrFe12O19) using strontium oxide (SrO) and iron sesquioxide (Fe2O3), and a step of combining the strontium iron oxide with a cement consisting of calcium oxide (CaO) and aluminum oxide (Al2O3). Specifically, the method is characterized in that the sacrificial concrete composition is produced by performing: a step of preparing strontium iron oxide (SrFe12O19) by mixing Fe2O3 and SrCO3 at a ratio of 1:0.154 and subjecting the mixture to a sintering process; and a step of mixing, at a ratio of 1:0.327, the prepared strontium iron oxide and a commercially available cement consisting of 85 wt% of Fe2O3 and 15 wt% of CaO, and performing high-temperature compression molding on the resultant mixture.
