Abstract:
Disclosed is a safety-augmenting base connected to a main base, and a method for controlling same. The safety-augmenting base connected to the main base in a PLC system according to the present invention comprises: a communication unit which performs data communication with the main base; a system-state-monitoring unit which monitors the state of the PLC system using data communicated with the main base; a module control unit which controls the overall operation of the safety-augmenting base, and outputs different control signals in accordance with whether or not the state of the PLC system is normal; a memory unit which stores communication data transmitted from the main base, as well as programs and information required for controlling the safe state of the safety-augmenting base; a state-switching unit which switches between a normal state and a safe state in accordance with the control signal outputted by the module control unit; and a safety-processing unit which controls the safety-augmenting base using the information transmitted from the main base when the state is switched to a normal state by the state-switching unit, and which controls the safety-augmenting base in accordance with a user-defined program prestored in the memory unit when the state is switched to a safe state by the state-switching unit.
